This SH-xx Filter module for Synthedit is a very powerful Filter. This filter is accurate and has the same filter sound and resonance as the original one. I've not found any synth that has a real accurate model of a real natural pure analog filter. The problem comes from the resonance. In virtual synths the resonance is fixed, in the SH-09, it is a tuned harmonic, that sounds close to a sine wave. It is so musical that you can play with it as if it was a second OSC! Without this possibility, and without a very stable resonance sound, you can't have the same power and feeling as if you were using a vintage gear. The Nikko SH-xx has a perfect resonance, and this filter is a true duplication of my SH-xx filter...

How does it work?

This filter consume some CPU, but that's the price to pay to have a really accurate filter. In fact to create the same sound of the SH-xx filter, I need to run 2 filters with oversampling. The 2 biquad 24db filters are running at the same time with the same parameters. But the first one has NO feedback. The second has feedback and its feedback is clipped to stay <1.0.

At the end I add the two filter so I have both the resonance and the filtered sound. The resonance is stable because it is clipped. You can play with the demo to se by yourself.
